Scandent shrub to 10m with spines, lenticellate glabrous branches with ferrugineous branchlets. Crenate or dentate leaves to 60mm x 35mm. few-flowered cymes, greenish-white flowers 4mm diameter, calyx to 2mm long, petals to 1.5mm long. Glabrous black fruit to 7mm long.
