Erect or scrambling high-climbing aromatic shrub, tree or woody climber with winged trunk & recurved prickles, glabrous stems. Imparipinnate glabrous coriaceous leaves, hairy beneath, 2-9 pairs. Axillary pubescent panicles or racemes to 55mm long of pale yellow-green flowers, male or female, to 3mm, stamen in male flowers to 6mm, calyx glabrous, 4-5 glabrous petals to 2mm long. Infructescence to 75mm long, fruit with 4-5 reddish-brown follicles to 7mm diameter, 8 mm long.
