High-climbing woody tendril vine with entire or 3-5 lobed toothed leaves to 300mm diameter, glabrate above & brown-tomentose beneath. Young leaves downy beneath becoming glabrescent, 250mm long panicles or racemes of green flowers with 10-12mm dark purple or black fruits from sweet to very astringent
