Scandent rusty-tomentose woody shrub or tree with sub-coriaceous leaves scabrid above & tomentose beneath to 130mm x 60mm, leaf-opposed or extra-axillary cyme with a tomentose bract to 4mm long of 15mm purple to dark red flowers, tubercular rusty-tomentose sepals 3mm x 4mm, reddish-purple pubescent petals to 12mm long, scabrous-pubescent torulose fruits to 25mm long x 15mm, hairy lenticellate stems becoming glabrous
