Large woody climber to 50m+, glabrescent young twigs. Coriaceous leaves to 240mm x 90mm glabrous apart from a few hairs on midrib beneath. Leaf-opposed or extra-axillary cymes with tomentose bract to 7mm long, tomentose sepals to 6mm x 10mm, coriaceous tomentose verruculose red petals to 10mm x 9mm, flower with yellow centre. Pubescent fruit 30mm x 20mm

Medicinal uses. Bark fibre used to make sacking
