Woody climber to 5m with glabrescent striate young twigs. Glabrescent leaves to 170mm x 60mm, puberulous beneath, glabrous above. Extra-axillary cymes with basal bracts to 9mm x 9mm, 3 coriaceous densely pubescent sepals 2mm x 3mm, 6 dark purple petals 5mm long. Tomentose sausage-shaped tuberculate fruit with longitudinal ridges 40mm x 23mm.
