Climbing shrub, stems densely covered with stinging hairs, leaves with white hairs above & grey tomentum beneath 100mm x 58mm, cream flowers, cream fruit maturing red, liana with reddish-brown stems. Male inflorescence to 100mm diameter, female inflorescence with numerous stinging hairs to 20mm x 50mm diameter, flowers to 100mm long , orange to dark brown achene to 3mm long. Scrambler with stiff purplish hairs on stems, leaves hairy both surfaces 150mm x 120mm, pale green flowers, female panicles
