Tall slender climbing shrub or liana with quadrangular pubescent stems. Coriaceous leaves glabrescent above pubescent beneath except on nerves beneath when young to 120mm x 80mm. Axillary solitary flowers, lowest petiole converted into hooked spines, tomentose calyx to 5mm long, corolla downy outside, corolla tube to 10mm long, glabrous capsule to 20mm long.
