Herbaecous simple tendril vine, glabrous stems, 3-5 lobed coarsely toothed leaves glabrous above, hairy beneath with stipular bracts, male flowers solitary or paired in fascicles up to 13 flowers, calyx tube to 12mm x 3mm, corolla lobes 12mm long, inflorescences 160mm long, petals to 55mm greenish-yellow to lemon yellow sometimes with a reddish tinge, female flowers to 31mm long usually solitaryon 18mm stalks, fruit scarlet to 60mm x 31mm
