Liana or glabrous scrambling woody shrub to 15m with lenticellate branches. Glabrous leaves 150mm x 60mm. Terminal or axillary 150mm long racemes with bracts to 2mm long & bractlets to 0.5mm long, of 10mm greenish-white flowers aging red, white or green sepals to 5mm x 3mm, petals absent. Fruit a 7mm x 6mm purple berry maturing black with persistent tepals, fruiting sepals 4mm long.
