Annual herbaceous simple or bifid tendril climber or creeper with scabrid glabrous or pubescent stems, monoecious, male flowers solitary or in racemes, 20mm white flowers, calyx tube to 25mm long with slightly villous lobes to 8mm long, 5 petals white, yellow or red 30mm x 20mm, female flowers solitary, calyx lobes 5mm, petals as male, 10-angled fruits orange-red, smooth to 30mm diameter, denticulate pentagonal mucronate leaves with 5 lobes, 80mm x 90mm hairy on nerves beneath
