Medium-sized herbaceous tendril vine or creeper with grooved stems, bifid or trifid glabrous tendrils to 40mm, leaves with sinuate dentate margins, spiny main nerves beneath. Pale red flowers in racemes of 5-10 flowers with bracts, male racemes to 300mm or more, petals to 10mm & smooth fruit to 110mm long x 80mm, green with yellowish streaks
