Perennial monecious herbaceous hirsute puberulent twining or creeping vine with stems covered in urticating hairs. Serrate leaves to 100mm x 50mm+, upper surface of leaves & stems with stinging hairs, becoming glabrate except on nerves , bristly on nerves both surfaces. Lateral, sometimes fasciculate axillary male racemes to 60mm long with bracts, 3 male sepals, reddish, green or pinkish male flowers to 1.6mm long with 3 sepals 1mm long, solitary female flowers to 5mm long with 6 sepals 1.5mm long. 3-lobed fruit capsule covered with stinging hairs, to 3.5mm x 7mm with persistent sepals.
