Climber or erect plant with stinging hairs. Mucronulate toothed leaves to 80mm x 40mm, glabrous above & bristly on nerves beneath. Terminal racemes with numerous male flowers above & 1-2 basal female flowers, male flower bracts to 2mm, female bracts to 4mm, male flowers with 3 sepals, female flowers with 3 calyx segments. Setose capsule to 8mm across with 3 angular lobes.
