Climbing or trailing urticating perennial herb, glabrous stems or a few white bristles, serrate leaves hispid on nerves both surfaces 100mm x 40mm, lateral racemes to 190mm long with bracts, male bracts 2mm long, female bracts 3mm long, male flowers to 1.5mm greenish-yellow with 3 glabrous sepals, females to 4mm with 3 coriaceous segments to 8mm long, in fruit greenish, almost glabrous capsule to 4mm x 8mm, 3-lobed, bristly & hairy
