Evergreen herbaceous perennial or annual villous twiner. 45mm axillary solitary bright-orange yellow flowers with a black centre, other colours known with or without black eye, tube to 25mm long, inflorescence with pubescent bracteoles to 24mm long, hairy calyx teeth, corolla tube dark red in throat 32mm long with scattered hairs, yellow, orange, buff or white lobes 16mm long, throat occasionally same colout as lobes, . Seed capsule 20mm long with long beak, puberulous stems, pubescent leaves 60mm x 45mm
