Twining liana or shrub. Leaves to 100mm x 80mm, scabrous glabrate above, downy beneath with revolute margins. 4-flowered axillary racemes or panicles with bracts & bractlets to 2mm long, yellow flowers maturing orange-red to 20mm wide, dentate orange petals 7mm long with claws 3.5mm long. Velvety samara with pale pink to red wings to 23mm x 10mm, nut 4mm wide.
