High-climbing liana or shrub with striate, lenticellate branchlets & bifid tendrils. Glabrous coriaceous leaves, leaflets to 150mm x 80mm. Terminal & axillary puberulent panicles, thryrses or racemes with bracts and bracteoles, to 200mm+ long, fragrant pinkish-purple flowers with white in throat, coriaceous 5-toothed calyx to 10mm x 12mm, corolla to 70mm x 40mm with tomentum outside with 5 lobes 22mm x 15mm. Fruit yellow-green aging green tuberculate capsule to 610mm x 25mm
