Herbaceous twining liana to 30m or shrub with rusty tomentose branchlets, tuberous roots to 400mm x 120mm x 100mm. Mucronate leaves of various sizes & shape to 210mm x 200mm, glabrate above & silver silky beneath. Axillary & terminal corymbs or panicles with bracts to 5mm long & minute bracteoles to 1.2mm x 1mm, with 35 flowers, 17mm diameter violet or yellow flowers, 5 sepals 2mm x 2mm, smallest or largest petal with some red veining, 5 denticulate petals to 10mm x 3mm. 3-winged red pubescent samaras 55mm x 30mm, nut 6mm x 3.6mm.
