Scandent or decumbent vine to several metres long, stems pubescent to tomentose. Pubescent leaves to 90mm x 47mm. 6 red flowers per inflorescence with pubescent bracts to 6mm x 1mm, pubescent calyx to 24mm becoming glabrate in fruit, calyx teeth to 10mm x 8mm, pubescent purple corolla, glabrate within with tube to 24mm, upper lip to 9mm, 3-lobed lower lip to 5mm. Nutlets to 8mm
