Glabrous twiner to 5m with tuberous roots, leaves to 180mm x 120mm. Inflorescence with bracts to 3mm long, flowers have an unpleasant smell, dark purple or purple-brown tepals to 12mm x 4mm, fruit to 35mm x 10mm with a beak to 4mm
