Sometimes climbing tomentose shrub with recurved thorns, leaves with prickles beneath & hairs on veins beneath, villous terminal raceme of greenish-yellow flowers to 30mm diameter, 14mm long, lobes 15mm x 4mm, pubescent leaves, hairs mainly on veins above, tomentose stems. Scandent shrub with hirsute stems, thorns to 6mm long. Leaves to 190mm x 110mm with thorns on backs & petioles, pilose above & pubescent beneath. Extra-axillary inflorescences, violet flowers, calyx tube 1mm long with lobes to 10mm long, violet corolla with tube 2.5mm long & lobes 10mm long. Hirsute berry to 15mm diameter. Scandent shrub with small thorns to 2.5mm long, hairy leaves to 117mm x 58mm. Axillary or extra-axillary inflorescences of 17-20 yellow flowers to 22mm diameter, calyx 5-lobed, lobes to 7mm x 1.5mm, 5-lobed corolla, lobes 9mm x 3mm,
