Rhizomatous thorny or unarmed glabrous slightly woody high-climbing shrub to 10m , slender stems. Glabrous coriaceous leaves to 160mm x 85mm with undulate margins with 2 simple tendrils each side of petioles. Axillary umbels of flowers with minute coriaceous bracteoles. Male inflorescence to 8-40 flowers with bracteoles, 6mm long fragrant greenish-white to yellowish-green & rose-pink flowers, male tepals 7mm x 2mm, female tepals 4mm x 1.2mm. 10mm diameter red-black to blue-black berries.
