Dioecious shrub or treelet, occasionally scandent to 10m, wsith puberulent young branches becoming glabrate, angulate branchlets with a few hairs. Denticulate leaves in whorls of 3 to 225mm x 90mm, hairy both surfaces or glabrous above, strigillose on nerves & pubescent beneath. Axillary few-flowered racemes to 150mm long or cymes to 30mm long of 3-20 flowers. Male cymes to 15mm long with flowers 2.5mm across, fleshy male floral cup to 4mm x 2mm with 4-5 minute glabrous sepals, tepals 0.8mm across, pale yellow or cream or reddish-yellow & glabrous. Female floral cup obconical, flowers 5mm wide, 4-6 sepals. Glabrescent fruit with 6-12 fruitlets, 15mm diameter, ripening to yellow, red or purple with brown or green spots & strong lemon smell.
