Perennial herb with woody base or subshrub, erect, trailing or climbing with yellow-brown hirsute branches. Toothed leaves hairy both surfaces to 60mm long. Axillary or terminal many-flowered spikes to 15mm diameter with 1-2 bracts, 9mm long petalled yellow, orange or pink to red or purple flowers or white with red to purple centre, densely hairy to bristly all over, hispid calyx to 8mm long, yellow red-blotched petals. Beaked glabrous carpel to 4mm diameter.
