Perennial climbing sedge with scabrous leaves to 800mm x 10mm. Solitary distal or axillary panicles to 240mm x 80mm, spikelets to 6mm long, dark purple-brown flowers. Achenes to 4mm long white with purple tinge, nut to 4mm long.
