High-climbing twining simple-tendril liana, old stems often much flattened and perforated, young branchlets ferrugineous-strigillose. Coriaceous leaves 2-foliate or 2-lobed to 280mm x 100mm, leaflets to 70mm x 30mm glabrous above, rusty-pubescent beneath. Lax puberulent terminal racemes or panicles to 200mm long with bracts to 4mm long of fragrant white or greenish-yellow to cream flowers with brownish nectar guides in throat, brown-puberulent to 10mm long with 5 minute teeth, 5 pilose clawed petals to 18mm long, large, thick stemmed. Flat fruit rusty-orange pubescent to 100mm long, 30mm wide, explosively dehiscent pods.
