High-climbing shrub with twining stems. Leaves to 150mm long, undulate or shallowly toothed, glabrous or slightly pubescent beneath. Fragrant 25mm monoecious red flowers, sepals to 50mm long, corolla to 200mm across, petals mostly crumson with a thickened claw. 10mm red berries in spikes to 70mm long
