Glabrous scandent clambering shrub, sub-shrub or liana to 10m with hexagonal brown tomentose or glabrous striate branches. Coriaceous leaves to 120mm x 65mm, glabrous above & pilose beneath with dentate margins. Terminal & lateral cymes or panicles to 500mm long, heads to 7mm x 6mm with 3 series of pubescent phyllaries, greenish-white flowers, glabrous corolla 3mm long. Glabrous black achenes to 3.5mm long with awns to 2mm long.
