Large hairy shrub, tree or climber to 5m with strigose branches, leafy stems with yellowish hairs. Glabrate or strigose leaves to 160mm x 70mm, purple on underside of leaves. Strigose many-flowered cymes or corymbs 30mm diameter with 2-3 bracts to 8mm long, glabrate calyx tube to 2mm x 1.3mm with 5 lobes to 4.5mmx 1.2mm, strigose corolla white outside, tube to 10mm x 1mm with 5 lobes to 4.5mm long. Deep red or purple sparsely strigulose fruit to 10mm diameter.
