Spiny, woody pubescent liana, shrub, tree or trailer to 3m long with hairy yellow angular stems & reddish bristles. Trifoliate to 5-foliolate tomentose leaves, white-tomentose beneath, doubly serrate leaflets to 150mm long. Hairy terminal & axillary many-flowered panicles to 300mm x 100mm with tomentose bracts, of 8mm diameter white to pink flowers, white pubescent sepals 5mm long, white petals 5mm long. Edible fruit red to black 12mm long
