Tall prickly climbing shrub to 30m with densely hairy stems and a few prickles, serrated glabrous coriaceous simple leaves to 160mm x 95mm, upper & lowers leaf surface glabrous, hairy along veins, spiny beneath. Terminal corymbose greenish panicles to 400mm long or axillary sub-racemes of flowers with lobed bracts to 9mm x 2mm, 15mm diameter white flowers, villous calyx, sepals to 11mm x 4mm with lobes or teeth to 2mm, glabrous petals 7mm x 3.5mm, fruit dark red fleshy glabrous aggregate to 15mm diameter
