Scandent or sprawling shrub with hairy prickly stems to 10m long. Coriaceous serrate margined leaves, undersurface, branches & inflorescence densely ferrugineus-pubescent, spiny, upper leaf surface pilose on midrib & nerves to 100mm x 70mm. Terminal lax panicles to 400mm long with bracts, white flowers to 16mm diameter with pubescent bracts to 5mm long, pilose calyx to 6mm long, sepals to 8mm x 6mm, petals to 7mm long x 4mm wide, red fruit with persistent sepals
