Dioecious climbing, scrambling or creeping shrubs with hairy prickly stems to 25m long, serrate to dentate margined hairy leaves sometimes shallowly lobed to 150mm x 95mm. Compound racemes to 350mm long with lobed bracts, triangular red to purple sepals to 6mm x 3.5mm, white to pink petals to 11mm x 6mm, black fruit to 10mm dia., with persistent sepals
