Scandent shrub with hairy prickly branches and leaf nerves, leaves rufo-villose, 3 serrated coriaceous leaflets to 150mm x 100mm, pubescent above, canescent beneath. Axillary villose panicles of pale pink flowers to 20mm across, calyx tomentose, sepals mucronulate to 12mm long, dark red glabrous fruits aging black to 6mm long
