Climbing, sprawling or scrambling prickly shrub with hairy prickly stems, glabrous except along nerves, unlobed or 3-lobed leaves to 170mm x 90mm with serrate margins. Terminal panicles to 350mm long with bracts to 8mm long, flowers usually 3-clustered apetalous, sepals to 7mm x 5mm, stamens to 6mm long, calyx yellowish tomentose, glabrous fruit with numerous yellow hairs, a black berry to 8mm dia. with persistent sepals
