Erect, arching or sometimes scandent with purplish pubescent or glabrate stems, minute recurved spines. 3-5 foliolate leaves to 100mm long, serrate leaflets almost glabrous, pilose on veins both surfaces. Whitish flowers with purplish tinge in terminal & axillary racemes with purplish tomentose bracts, tomentose sepals, white petals to 10mm long. Berries with persistent sepals, ripening black 6mm x 5mm.
