Perennial herbaceous liana with yellowish rhizomes, 4-angled stems, leaves to 70mm x 30mm. Terminal & axillary cymes of white or pale yellow flowers to 4mm across, corolla with 4-5 lobes, tube to 0.7mm long, lobes to 1.4mm long, black berry 9mm wide
