Prickly semi-evergreen shrub, climbing sprawling or prostrate with glabrous twigs, imparipinnate coriaceous leaves to 120mm long with 7-9 leaflets to 40mm x 20mm each leaflet with 2 prickles to 4mm beneath. Terminal raceme or thyrse with bracts, very fragrant 30mm wide white flowers aging pinkish in terminal clusters, sepals to 11mm x 4mm, petals to 18mm x 11mm, fruit a purple to black hip to 18mm dia. Not climbing in China
