Tall annual twining or trailing simple-tendril vine with branches & tendril clothed with woolly hairs, leaves 100mm x 100mm 3-5 lobed or angled pubescent above, brown woolly hairs beneath, male flowers 6mm long with hispid calyx with pinnatifid lobes, 5-lobed corolla 20mm diameter, yellow, female inflorescence with toothed bract at base, hispid calyx, 5-lobed corolla, female flowers on 95mm stalks, 3.5mm long, fruit 43mm x 34mm, grey-green with 10 longitudinal bands of deeper green ripening pale lemon yellow covered with long red bristly hairs
