Prickly shrub, subshrub or small tree sometimes scandent with root suckers, branchlets with prickles to 5mm long, 2-7 foliolate leaves, leaflets to 6.5mm long, axillary glabrous racemes to 120mm long, creamy green, or yellowish-white flowers, puberulous calyx 1mm long, glabrous corolla to 4mm long, glabrous orange-red legume becoming black to 45mm x 25mm
