Scrambling liana to12m, tree or shrub with purple branchlets. Scabrous mucronate leaves to 140mm x 50mm, grey puberulent beneath. 5mm x 13mm lemon-yellow or pale green flowers with fringed petals in axillary & terminal panicles or cymes clothed in grey tomentum with bracts & bractlets, sepals to 2.5mm x 3mm, petals 6mm wide. Dark olive-green coriaceous capsule maturing brown divided in three, to 100mm wide.
