Slightly woody perennial herbs or shrubs erect, prostrate or sometimes scandent to 2.5m with striate branches, leaves to 125mm x 60mm, sticky terminal panicles or terminal spikes to 300mm long with floral bracts & bracteoles, of up to 70 flowers, 25mm long 18mm diameter white to pale bluish flowers, hairy calyx to 12mm long, 25mm long x 12mm white corolla, tube to 20mm long, lobes to 10mm long, fruit a pale yellow-brown capsule to 8mm long with 5 furrows, covered with persistent calyx, glabrous except for short hairs on inflorescence, leaves 100mm long glabrous above with lepidote dots beneath
