Spiny erect or climbing shrub or small tree to 6m with glabrate branches & spines to 8mm long. Coriaceous leaves glabrous above, puberulent beneath. Many-flowered staminate cymes to 30mm x 35mm with bractlets to 1mm long, puberulent yellowish-green perianth 4mm across. Pistillate flowers to 3mm long. Woody 5-angled fruit 21mm x 10mm with yellowish or brownish hairs
