Twining liana to 12m or tree with cinereous or tomentulose stems. Coriaceous toothed leaves to 130mm x 50mm, glabrous above, tomentose beneath. Greenish-white or purple flowers in axillary inflorescences of 6-15 heads of 9-12 florets, flowers to 11mm x 5mm, fragrant purple-white glabrate corolla to 5mm long with lobes to 2.5mm long. 3-angled glabrous or pilose achenes to 3mm long with white pappus bristles to 6mm long.
