Tall liana with striate stems and prickly branchlets. Coriaceous leaves glabrous above hairy beneath becoming glabrescent to 300mm x 220mm. Male panicles or racemes axillary to 50mm long of yellow-green or grey cauliflorous flowers, 4 or 5 1mm calyx segments, 3-6 petals to 1.8mm villous outside, 3-6 sepals, female inflorescence to 12mm, 2mm calyx segements, 5 petals 3mm long. Orange hairy prickly coriaceous drupe to 40mm x 25mm, villous beneath with short mucrone.
