Scrambling tendril vine with glabrescent young shoots, grooved lenticellate young stems, pubescent branchlets, coriaceous bifid leaves to 70mm across, pubescent beneath and on nerves above, otherwise glabrous above. Lateral and terminal coppery pubescent corymbs with 2mm long bracts and minute bracteoles, calyx splitting to 2 or 3 reflexed lobes, yellow aging red petals to 10mm long with undulate margins, reddish silky hairy outside
