Twining scabrous shrub or liana to 7m with tetragonal lenticellate branches. Glabrous or scabrous coriaceous leaves to 350mm x 165mm, pilose-puberulent bneath. Terminal or axillary lax many-flowered racemes to 300mm+ long, with bract, 8mm long purple flowers. Calyx tube to 6.5mm x 7mm with triangular teeth to 2.5mm long, lavender lobes to 25mm x 9mm, 50m wide purple corolla, corolla tube to 18mm x 14mm, pubescent within, puberulent lobes to 20mm x 20mm. Fruiting calyx lobes to 35mm x 15mm, shiny white fruit surrounded by silver-white winged sepals, wings to 25mm x 10mm.
