Fruiting Times
Climbing or trailing glabrous herbaceous annual or perennial vine, red-brown angular stem to 3m+ with recurved prickles. Leaves to 110mm x 80mm, prickly on nerves beneath & with scabrous margins. Terminal or axillary pseudo-spikes to 30mm long with leafy bracts to 30mm long, to 4 flowers, white or pinkish to 3.5mm long, persistent perianth segments becoming fleshy & blue in fruit. Fruit a fleshy black or blue achene to 3mm x 6mm
