Liana or perennial woody shrub with pilose branches becoming glabrous. 5-foliolate leaves with bracts, serrated coriaceous leaflets hairy on veins & nerves beneath, terminal leaflet to 200mm x 90mm, tendrils in leaf axils. 5mm scented white to yellow flowers in thyrses or panicles 200mm long with bracts to 1.5mm long, sepals 3mm long, petals 5mm long. Orange-red to deep red 3-celled capsules 35mm long
